Sterilisation is a humane and effective way to control the population and spread of diseases among animals, especially in the case of dogs and cats. It involves a surgical procedure that prevents animals from reproducing, thus reducing the number of unwanted litters and strays.
In female animals, sterilisation can also have several health benefits. It can prevent uterine infections and breast tumors, which are common in unspayed animals. Sterilisation also eliminates the risk of complications during pregnancy and childbirth, which can be life-threatening in some cases.
In male animals, sterilisation can reduce aggression and fighting, which can lead to injury and even death. Unneutered male animals are also more likely to roam and become lost or injured while searching for a mate.
We help improve the welfare of stray and abandoned dogs by addressing overpopulation and preventing more street dogs from joining the fold.
Dogs and cats are brought in by the public as well as by our animal rescue and volunteer teams. We have also expanded our sterilisation program to suburban Mumbai — home to 10 lakh street dogs.
